Craps a casino dice game, played in rounds, in which players make bets on the shooter’s rolls. Each round is played in the following manner:
- The player rolling the dice is the shooter and places a bet on the Pass line or the Don’t Pass line.
- The player rolls the first roll which is known as the come-out roll. If the roll is a 2, 3 or 12 it is called craps and the pass line bets have lost. If the roll is 7 or 11, it is called a natural and the pass line bets win. If the roll is 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, this number becomes the “point”.
- The dealer will move the On button to the point number to identify it to all the players at the table
- The shooter continues rolling until either the point or a seven is rolled. If the shooter rolls the point before a seven is rolled, the bets on the pass line win but if a seven is rolled before the point, the bets on the pass line lose and the round is ended.
Additional types of bets can be made during each round:
Come bet – this bet is similar to the pass line bet but is placed after the point is established. On the first roll after the bet, if a 7 or 11 is rolled, it wins and if a 2,3 or 12 is rolled, it loses. If a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is rolled, the come bet will be moved on the number that was rolled. If the come bet is rolled before a 7, it is a win but if a 7 is rolled before the come bet number, the bet loses.
Don’t come bet – like the don’t pass line, the bet is on the opposite of the come bet and is similar to the Don’t Pass line bet. A 2 or 3 on the first roll is a win and a 7 or 11 is a loss. If the roll is a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, the don’t come bet is move onto the number that was rolled. This bet wins if a 7 is rolled before the don’t come number.
Single roll bets – these bets can be placed any time and are bets on the specific outcome of the next roll.
Multi-roll bets – these bets usually take multiple rolls and are based on the shooter throwing one type of roll before another one. For example, a “Hard Way” bet is a bet that a 4, 6, 8 or 10 will be thrown the hard way before a seven or the corresponding easy way. (Hard way refers to a roll in which both dice show the same number)
