Baccarat

Baccarat is a casino card game in which there are only three possible results – Player, Banker and Tie. The player bets on the hand the he believes will have the highest total – player or banker – or bets that the 2 hands will tie in value.

To determine the value of the hand, the cards are added together. Face cards and 10s are worth zero, Aces are worth 1 point and the 2 to 9 cards are worth face value. If the total value of the cards are a double digit, the first number is ignored. For example, if the a 6 and an 8 is dealt into a hand, the combined sum of 14 becomes 4 points.

To begin the game the player and the dealer are 2 cards face down. The cards are turned over and scored. If either hand achieves a natural hand – an 8 or 9 – the game is finished and the highest hand wins. If neither hand is a natural, the play procedes in a specific manner. The score of the player’s hand determines whether he draws another card or stands and this action determines the action of the banker as follows:
